NOT ONE
Short Film - Coming-of-Age Drama Best Original Story - Independent Shorts Awards Best Acting Ensemble - Independent Shorts Awards Award of Distinction - Canada Shorts Award of Excellence - Editing/Music - Southern Shorts Awards Award of Merit - Cinematography/Production Design - Southern Shorts Awards Official Selection: Front Range International Film Festival, Canada Shorts, Miami Independent Film Festival, Independent Shorts Awards Mia and Iris see things differently. For Mia, a runaway from West Virginia, it means risking it all for a story. For Iris, an anthropology student at Sarah Lawrence, it means standing firm in her convictions and letting her voice be heard. When the two cross paths in Union Square, they discover they have a lot more in common than what meets the eye. Whether it’s dodging close calls or grappling with the dark side of indifference, two girls from different walks of life share a resilient spirit of hope. Inspired by three months of interviews with homeless communities in the Greater New York area and case worker input from local outreach groups, NOT ONE scratches the surface of a much more complex issue: the stigma against homeless millennials. |
DON'T SCHMUCK IT UP
Web Series - Comedy Best Web Series/T.V. Pilot - Honorable Mention - Independent Shorts Awards Official Selection: Imagine This Women's International Film Festival, Miami Independent Film Festival, Independent Shorts Awards Rick Nash coverts on the breakaway, to the net, he scores for his 17th of the season and the Rangers lead, two to nothing. You may feel like you’re crashing NHL night but, in the world of Don’t Schmuck It Up, no one loves the Rangers more than JULES and AVERY, two millennials outmanning hockey reporting at ESPW's Off the Ice column. These girls don’t just ride the pine until they get the Stanley Cup of breaking news; they’re at the rink afterhours and know the plays better than their dusty male counterparts, PACO and PAUL. They may not be the girls window-shopping outside Tiffany’s, but they are the ones making waves for women in hockey and, you know, sports in general. The one thing that makes these two benders? Dating in the concrete jungle. They may be the Gloria Steinem and Kathryn Bigelow of hockey in the rink but, off the ice, they just can’t get the right read on NYC's dating playbook. Whether it’s ASHLEY’s wheelhouse making Avery check him left-and-right or PAGE pulling a deke on JULES, our team tickles the twine to hilarious results. |
